I used to work immense amounts of hours at prior positions and then go home to bed and do it over. I now try to put in only my 40 and go home. Unfortunately so many of my coworkers "donate" 10-15 hours a week!!! In order to keep myself from feeling like a slacker I constantly remind myself of the owner and the fact that he doesn't need donations. If he wants me to work extra he can pay me for it and i can say no. I must say the real killer in life is the commute. Day in and day out the hour drive there and back just sucks the energy and the good mood right out of me. So if have any advice for anyone it would be live close to work!!!! Like you i dream of getting to a point in my life where i am living well below my means and transitioning into work for me. I love working, but not for someone else.
